Frost Policy at Royal Norwich

Playing golf in frosty conditions can cause irreparable dam-age to the putting surfaces. Therefore when frost is evident, play will be suspended until the temperature has risen to a level that will allow a satisfactory thaw to take place, thereby reducing the possibility of damage to the grasses. If golfers miss their tee-time as a result of the course being suspended or closed due to frost, reasonable endeavours will be made to re-schedule later that day, depending on availability.

In less severe frost conditions, you may be given the opportunity to go out and play as scheduled, on temporary greens. Visitors will be offered a £5 refund per temporary green in place(discount based on full fee of £120)

In these circumstances the flagstick would be placed on the approach to greens and remain there until a satisfactory thaw takes place.

The opportunity for this restricted play during lighter frosts is a compromise to limit the turf damage away from the most vulnerable areas - the putting surfaces.

In severe frosts, snow and frozen conditions, the course will be completely closed to all play and green fees will be re-funded to visitors.

The use of buggies, powerkaddys and golf buggies is likely to be suspended in frozen/frosted turf conditions due to the excessive damage caused.
