Hole 1

Road Out: The first at Royal Norwich looks deceptively flat but in reality, plays far more downhill than appears. Allow for this in your Club Selection.

Quarry Out: Not visible from the tee but this green is protected by large bunkers in front of the green attempt to leave yourself a full shot to the green.

Eastward Ho: The out of bounds dominates this hole down the left side but rest assured bailing out to the right of the fairway can often leave a trickier second shot from a hanging lie.

Quarry In: A totally blind shot requires total commitment from the tee. The large poplar in the distance is always a good safe line. Approach shots landing short of this green will usual bounce on.

Hole 6

The Glade: Our signature hole ... one of the most scenic tee shots on the entire course, Don't let the beauty of this hole distract you however, the green has one of the most severe slopes in the county and you must attempt to leave your approach shot short of the pin to leave an uphill putt

Hole 7

The Wood: The wind swirling through the trees can be an added complication when playing this short but demanding par 3. Most of the trouble is at the front so taking an extra club can often lead to favourable results.

Hole 8

Redan: Try to select a club for your tee shot that will leave you short of the fairway trap. This will virtually double your landing area. Many approach shots to this green are pushed right in an attempt to avoid the woods and out of bounds on the left. Avoid this common mistake and TAKE DEAD AIM.

Hole 9

Devil's Punch Bowl: One of the most demanding holes on the course. Everything falls to the right for the tee shot but BEWARE! ..out of bounds awaits for anyone trying to cut off more than they can chew down the left side. Landing short of this green and running your approach shot on is always a good tactic.

Hole 10

The Spire: This short par 4 is not as easy as first appears. Long hitters may attempt to drive this green but anything finishing down the left side will leave a very tricky pitch to a green sloping away. A good tactic is often to leave your tee shot just short of the fairway traps for a better angle to the pin.

Hole 11

Low Road: This par 3 has a very shallow green. Take a good look at the pin position because short siding yourself on this tricky par 3 will lead to an immediate bogey or worse.

Hole 12

Paradise: Another demanding par 3. Despite the large slope through the middle of this green, tee shots will often run up from short and is often a good tactic to attack the pin. Over the back of this green is dead so think carefully about your club selection.

Hole 13

Hades: Are we really in Norfolk? You wouldn't think so standing on this tee. You are about to play from one of the highest points in Norwich. Long Hitters can attempt to go for this green but the further you hit, the tighter this par 4 becomes. Consider playing an iron from the tee.

Hole 14

King Solomon's Mine: The large oak is a great line from the tee but BEWARE. Taking too much club and ending up behind the tree will block your approach to the green. Playing uphill all the way many players under club and end up short of this green.

Hole 15

The Whinny: A great driving hole but be aware the right-hand fairway trap is like a magnet! Approach shots need to avoid the cavernous pit short of the green.

Hole 16

The Bank: one of the easier tee shots on the course but pay attention to your approach shot. A severely sloping green from back to front ensure 3 putts from the back of this green are common place!

Hole 17

Drayton: A great par 5 and reachable in two for long hitters. Be especially aware of the cross bunkers which are 60-70 yards short of the green. You're better off playing your approach shot from 130 yards than attempting to splash out of these bunkers that rarely offer the opportunity of reaching the putting surface.

Hole 18

Home Green: One of the best finishing holes in all of Norfolk golf! There is a bail out area for the tee shot down the right-hand side, however, the left side offers a far better angle to the pin for all approach shots. Par is always a good score!
