St Patrick’s Day ‘Street Food’ Cooking Demonstration
Thursday 19th March
£25 per person
Street food is no stranger to our huge world. Back in the 1700’s the Street Food focus in London was on those people unable to afford ovens and hobs that we take for granted today. Nowadays Street Food is endemic the world over. After all, outdoor food markets are the norm everywhere, here and abroad. In our own Norwich Market there is a diverse collection of food stalls, spice stalls and the rest. Today we are helping to celebrate the Irish St Patrick’s Day but we have slipped in a bit of spice! Here is a taster of what the day will bring.
BLACK PUDDING IRISH EGGS (Mimicking the ubiquitous scotch Egg, so hearty and filling)
SLOW-COOKED BEEF STEW WITH GUINNESS AND RED WINE. (a gorgeous family meal studded with baby dumplings and served with Irish colcannon)
PULLED PORK IN SODA BREAD. (Yes we will make the bread, slow cook the pork with cider, Irish whisky, onions and carrots).
TAIL-ON TIGER PRAWNS, LIGHTLY BATTERED AND DEEP FRIED, (served with a sweet chilli sauce)
WARMING WINTER LENTIL SOUP. (Made with a smoked Ham Hock, parsley, onions, garlic, chicken stock and red lentils).
THAI CHICKEN STIRFRY. (Chicken breast strips, fast stir-fried with shallots, fresh coriander, thin carrot strips, spring onions, garlic, root ginger, soy and finished with coconut milk).
HOT DOG IN A SOFT BUN TOPPED WITH A SPICY COLESLAW. (just that but using local Norfolk Sausages and a homemade slaw)
BAILEYS IRISH CREAM CHEESECAKE, (a killer this one! Lovely cream cheese heavily flavoured with Baileys Irish Cream and added Irish whisky on a Hobnob Chocolate biscuit base, dusted with cocoa. Can you handle this!!??)
